English as an Additional Language

Pupils learning English as an additional language (EAL) share many common characteristics to those pupils whose first language is English. However their learning experience differs because they are learning in and through another language, and because they are from cultural backgrounds and communities that have different understandings and expectations of education, language and learning.

At The Priory Witham Academy we work closely with pupils and their families to ensure we fully meet their needs and the best possible outcomes are achieved.  The Academy employs an EAL Coordinator who works with pupils, staff and parents to ensure all needs are fully catered for. For further information please see our EAL Strategy and Information for Parents at The Priory Witham Academy

Our website has a 'translate' function and we are always happy to work with pupils and their families to ensure they are able to access all the Academy offers.
