“Somewhere, something incredible is waiting to be known.” — Carl Sagan
At Priory Witham Academy, we provide children with high-quality, hands-on experiences that nurture our pupils’ natural curiosity. Scientific enquiry is at the heart of our engaging and enriching Science lessons in biology, chemistry, and physics. Through these lessons, children develop both investigative and practical skills that are essential to underpin strong scientific understanding.
We encourage children to ask their own questions about the world around them and explore answers through investigation. By using a carefully planned cross-curricular approach, we support our pupils individual interests, fostering a sense of excitement and curiosity about natural phenomena.
We take full advantage of the excellent facilities available at Witham, ensuring enriching learning experiences both indoors and outdoors.
The Science curriculum intends to:
- Provide pupils' with the greatest tool that pupils have to understand the world around them.
- Expand our pupils’ understanding of how the universe works.
- Develop understanding through the acquisition of knowledge and the development of skills by working scientifically.
- Create a stimulating, engaging and intellectually challenging learning environment for all of our pupils.
- Provide the opportunity to learn about science beyond the classroom, through ‘real life application’.
- Spark curiosity of how science has contributed to society and shaped the world in which we live.
